Female Russian and American Duo to Perform Four-hand Music of Acclaimed Female Composers

(Free-Press-Release.com) February 16, 2010 -- Julia Mortyakova from Russia and Kacey Link from Kansas City will perform a piano concert of four-hand music by women composers at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2010. The concert will be played at 716 South Glebe Rd, Arlington, VA 22204 in the sanctuary of Arlington First United Methodist Church.

Dr. Mortyakova has performed solo piano recitals and appeared as a soloist with orchestras. She has also participated in numerous music festivals across the United States and abroad. She is a leader in promoting music composed by women. History tends to marginalize the works of female composers.

Many women composers enjoyed established concert careers. Their works were performed in international concert halls. Dr. Mortyakova herself has sponsored and performed in these presentations.

Kacey Link, Dr. Mortyakova’s colleague for the concert, received both a Bachelor of Music in piano performance (2004) and a Master of Music in accompanying (2007) from the University of Kansas. Presently she is a D.M.A. student in keyboard at UCSB under the tutelage of Robert Koenig.

Ms. Link has performed as both a solo and collaborative pianist in the United States, France, and Switzerland. She also has worked as an accompanist/coach for the Lyric Opera and New Theatre of Kansas City. She has attended summer festivals including the Aspen Music Festival, Cours international de musique, and the Centrum Chamber Music Festival.

The concert is free to the public. Donations by those who wish to give, however, will be accepted.
