Festive season sees more decline in home loan rates

In the recent development, Development Bank of Credit has skip out of last home loans offering at the rate of 8% and is now offering the same at the rate of 7.95% for the limit of Rs.5 crore.

Executive Vice-President of DCB, Praveen Kutty said that the real estate sector in the country is out with affordable housing schemes and that added with lower home loan rates will give boost to the market.

For making the schemes even sweeter for their customers, the banks like Punjab National Bank and Central Bank have waived off the processing fee on loans. These banks says that the reduction in rates is psychological decline which will help in attracting more customers.

However, it is analysed that the people looking for home loans are going for public sector banks more than the private sector banks.

Joint Managing Director of HDFC, Renu Sud Karnad said that the 8% schemes provided by the private sector banks are only for the short duration of three months to one year. But for HDFC the hosing finance is one core product.

HDFC has come up with the offer of home loans at the floating rate of 8.75% for the limit of Rs.15 lakh, 9% for the limit of Rs.15 lakh to Rs.50 lakh and 9.5% for the loans of more than Rs.50 lakh.

The rise for home loan demand is analysed in the affordable home loan segment while the upper bracket is mostly witnessing the restructuring or transfer of home loans.
