Unfortunately your doctor was right when they said “your problem is all in your head”. What they didn’t tell you was that Fibromyalgia is a complex problem involving both the neurologic and metabolic systems of your body.
Fibromyalgia is NOT a muscular problem. You see, your body’s nervous system controls all aspects of your body’s function, from movements to thoughts to normal function of all of your body systems. One of those systems is your metabolic system or your endocrine system. The endocrine system’s main function is to provide adequate fuel for your body to operate properly. If your body doesn’t have a proper fuel supply it cannot run efficiently. Herein lays the problem. Without fuel the nervous system doesn’t work properly. When it doesn’t work properly you begin to develop physical problems that are sometimes undetectable with traditional diagnostic procedures, such as MRI, CT Scan, or even Blood Work.
The latest scientific research shows that the nervous system, specifically the cortex, brainstem, and mid brain become dysfunctional and cause the pain, fatigue, depression, digestive problems, and brain fog associated with Fibromyalgia.
So what are some of the typical endocrine problems that affect the nervous system and cause Fibromyalgia?
• There are food sensitivities or chronic infections of the GI tract that propagate an immune system problem or an auto-immune attack.
• There are Thyroid problems
• In many cases severe hormone issues
• Even blood sugar problems
This is just a short list of potential problems that can lead to Fibromyalgia. In order to treat Fibromyalgia properly, the underlying endocrine problem must first be found, then it can be treated at the same time the neurologic dysfunction is rehabilitated or the treatment will fail.
