Fiesta Mk7 Performance Air Intake Kits

The new Ford Fiesta launched at the end of 2008 offers 3 petrol engine variants, the 1.25, the 1.4 and the 1.6 litre, which are all supported with the new Performance Air Intake Systems. The kit comprises of a heat shield, which replaces the Air Cleaner, a performance cotton j1filter, and all the necessary connections and fixings for easy installation. Due to the locality of the current stock Air Cleaner, ‘j1 automotive’ have engineered the replacement air intake kit to shield off the area in front of the battery next to the headlamp from hot engine bay air, and receive the cold air directly from the intake above the front grille.

Chassis Dynamometer tests on a 1.25 litre Fiesta shows gains of 6.1% in bhp (average over the entire rev range), with improvements in torque, responsiveness and sound. “The complete system restriction has dropped by 60% compared to the stock system and by as much as 80% at lower flow rates” says Tony Cotton, engineer and director of ‘j1 automotive’. Intake sound is improved dramatically, with a wonderful growl as you power through the revs. The installation of these performance kits is straight forward and relatively quick, as the intake has been designed to share the same fixings as the removed Stock Air Cleaners. Two kits are offered – the 1.25 & 1.4 Litre version, and a 1.6 Litre variant (due to the Mass Air Flow Sensor present in the 1.6 Litre System).

The performance filters included within these kits are pre-oiled, and made from a cotton / mesh combination which can be cleaned, re-oiled and re-used.
