Finance South East (FSE) and ICAEW collaborate to bring together Angel Investors and entrepreneurs

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 19, 2010 -- The event was held at the Aviator Hotel, Farnborough and was attended by 50 ICAEW members. Highlights included a talk from an experienced Angel Investor, followed by ‘mock’ pitching sessions that showcased two exciting companies currently presented by Finance South East; ThermaHelm, a revolutionary brain cooling helmet technology and innovative children’s food company, Benjoy Nutrition.

The aim of the event was to raise awareness on Business Angel Funding as an option for SMEs and to provide all those who are new to, or interested in Angel Investing, an insight and guidance into the processes involved with Angel Investing. The event proved to be a great success with investors and pitching companies expressing highly positive feedback.

Damian Cavanagh, an existing Angel Investor, spoke at the event discussing his personal experiences of angel investing. After the event Damian said:

“As an experienced Business Angel and Member of the Surrey Investment Club, I was happy to share my experiences with fellow finance professionals and provide them with an insight into an area of investment they may not have investigated otherwise. There are many benefits to Angel Investing including the opportunity to work with exciting new companies and entrepreneurs, and of course the potential for high financial returns. Positive feedback received from the delegates has proved that there are a number of potential investors out there who are seeking ways of entering Angel Investment but have not found the right path. I believe that a combination of guidance, training and on-the-spot pitches allows investors to enter with ease. I look forward to working with FSE and the ICAEW on future events.”

ThermaHelm, a revolutionary brain cooling helmet technology designed to prevent injuries and save lives, was one of the companies pitching for investment. Peter Jones, Financial Director at ThermaHelm and ICAEW member commented:
