FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 3, 2010 -- Within the past eight months, over a dozen fire departments have incorporated the StoveTop FireStop, America’s leading automatic stovetop fire suppressor, in their public education programs. Some even received grant money to purchase StoveTop FireStop for their communities. These fire departments are taking preventative action toward battling cooking fires, the leading cause of home structure fires and civilian injuries—according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

StoveTop FireStop combats kitchen fires by suppressing grease fires before they have

a chance to spread. Unlike a traditional fire extinguisher, which requires manual operation, StoveTop FireStop automatically delivers fire-suppressing powder to the cooktop when touched by the flame of a grease fire. Because StoveTop FireStop works automatically, the resident does not need to be present to put out the fire, thus solving the dangerous and expensive problem of unattended cooking—the number one cause of cooking fires in America.

Fire departments from Alaska to Florida are using StoveTop FireStop in their “safety houses” and public fire safety and training programs due to its simple design, easy installation, and inexpensive protection against cooktop fires. Here are just a few examples of those who are taking steps to safeguard their communities by introducing them to the StoveTop FireStop:

• Danville Volunteer Fire Department - Danville, West Virginia
Fire Chief John Holstein is promoting StoveTop FireStop through mail-outs and fire safety

trainings. Chief Holstein is also considering carrying StoveTop FireStop on fire trucks to give out to people who have had cooktop fires.

• High Point Fire Department - High Point, North Carolina
The High Point Fire Department received a grant that funded their purchase of 60 StoveTop
FireStops in August, 2009. Captain Denita Lynch, Community Relations/Public Information Officer, headed this project.

• Orange County Fire Rescue - Winter Park, Florida
With the help of John Mulhall, Public Education Specialist, the fire department purchased 323 StoveTop FireStop’s to give to the Tangelo Park Community as part of the Fireman’s Fund grant project.
