First aid for kids is the very initial treatment before professional medical help, directed to recover a child just after an illness or accident. It would not be wrong if said like wounds and injuries are synonyms to playing and exploring when the activities of kids are considered. The most common injuries kids suffer while playing games and exploring things could be scrapes, skinned knees, split lips and regular cuts. If you have a moderate knowledge with some basics of first aid, you can easily administer your kid's wounds.

This is true for a minor scrap that it will stop bleeding after some time without any kind of treatment. However, cuts or gashes need first aid for kids' treatment to stop the bleeding. Take a clean cloth or towel; direct it to the wound area gently with some pressure like bleeding from the wound stops. It is recommended to use a dark-colored cloth so not to scare you with blood.

If need, use another cloth as well to place on wound to stop bleeding. Situation of the bleeding can be observed by elevating the wounded part for a while.



The next step of first aid for kids is to wash away the wound to make it free of dirt. It would be better to use warm water for the purpose. Expose the wounded part to warm water for some time. It will remove dirt, dust particles, glass particles and other unwanted particles from the wound. To clean the surrounding of the wound you can apply soap however, this is important that the soap must not come in contact with the wound.

The next step of first aid for kids is application of some antibiotic ointment on the wound. If you are sure that bleeding is stopped and wound is cleaned of dirt, now the time is to place a thin layer of antibiotic ointment on the wound and then different color bandage available at home, it will give you an edge as kids would be attracted towards colored-bandage.

The next step of first aid for kids is to take care to change the bandage if necessary. You need to change the bandage at least once a day or every time when bandage becomes dirty.

The next in first aid for kids is either to call your pediatrician or rush towards the emergency room whatever is convenient to you. If deem it necessary, you might order a sutures as well.

Accidents and unexpected events can't be seized however, through precautionary measures we can reduce it happenings to a minimum. When you find that with time when your child have access to things that can harm the child, it is recommended to put a safety latch on such kind of objects.

Keep away things at a safe distinct place like drinking glasses, mugs, papers, mirror of any other thing that can possibly harm your child.

Another important consideration regarding, first aid for kids and precautionary measure to keep safe your kids is scan or clean your house especially yard of the things that could possibly cause scrapes and cuts. You could keep such kind of household essentials a place out of reach of kids.
