FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 13, 2011 -- Released under the Authority of Sharon Leme, Minister of Information:

First Citizen Archangel is honored to join the ranks of Ted Turner of the United States, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, Former Secretary General of the United Nations Kofi Annan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor S. Ivanov, and Hisashi Owada President of the International Court of Justice in the United Nations Foundation. His acceptance into this organization is a great boost to the credibility and national pride of the people of the Nation of New Guinea.

The United Nations Foundation is guided by the key priority of the UN: fostering international cooperation for a more peaceful, prosperous and just world. It's members are honored to work closely with the UN’s leaders in the Secretariat and across the UN system. The work supports these leaders and the priorities set by Member States.

The UN Foundation works on a diverse portfolio of issues including children's health, energy and climate, women and population, technology and sustainable development. First Citizen Archangel will be working with the UNF in the hopes of establishing a World Heritage site within New Guinea. World Heritage sites are places around the world that have been internationally recognized for their outstanding value as natural and cultural treasures. Sites currently on the World Heritage list include Independence Hall, Stonehenge, the Galapagos Islands, the wildlife reserves of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the historic Centre of Prague, the Pyramids of Egypt and the Great Wall of China.

There are currently 851 World Heritage sites (660 cultural, 166 natural and 25 mixed properties) in 141 countries. All sites are protected by the 1972 World Heritage Convention, signed to date by 184 countries and administered by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The World Heritage Alliance Principles, which are based off of National Geographic’s Geotourism Charter, define sustainable tourism as tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place—its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents. The World Heritage Alliance seeks to promote tourism that helps preserve both the environmental integrity of World Heritage sites as well as the cultural heritage of surrounding communities. Sustainable tourism also contributes to the sustainability of local economies where livelihoods are often based on the cultivation of their natural environment and income from the tourist industry.
