First issue of “The Trade Affairs” Bulletin for 2010 released

The Department of trade negotiations and WTO in the Ministry of Foreign Trade has released the first issue of the Trade Affairs Bulletin for 2010. The Bulletin provides the UAE’s trade and business community with the latest news and updates on trade developments such as negotiations and free trade agreements with countries and economic blocs. It also monitors and analyses WTO agreements and related issues and follows-up the Organization’s meetings and negotiation rounds.

The bulletin’s front page highlighted the participation of a United Arab Emirates delegation headed by H.E. Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Foreign Trade, to the 7th World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference held from November 30 to December 2, 2009. The Conference discussed key issues under the theme “WTO, the Multilateral Trading System and the Current Global Economic Environment.”
Details on the free trade agreement draft signed recently between GCC Countries and New Zealand and the outcome of the Seventh Ministerial Conference of the WTO were also featured in the bulletin. Other contents included reports on major international and domestic economic developments; analytical articles on the economic and legal dimensions of the TRIPS Agreement; trade facilitation within the WTO framework; and the latest activities of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade.
