FirstMagic 1.2 Brings New Features To FirstClass-Based Web Content Management System

Users can build and maintain a sophisticated, modern web presence by creating simple documents which post instantly to the World Wide Web via the FirstClass Server's ability to render such documents into HTML on the fly.

FirstMagic is a skin-based website development system. The design elements of the site, which provide its look and feel, are maintained in a single place, and information pages are displayed via configurable Skins built in CSS. It utilizes Web 2.0 technologies to provide support for text, graphics, pictures, slide shows, lightbox rendering of images, and news feeds. Social Media is supported through Open Graph Protocol support, which allows a web site to be integrated easily with Facebook; Facebook 'Like' button and Tweet Button integration, Skype integration, and Chat-like Commenting within the web site, as well as direct support for the OpenText Social Workplace interface.

FirstMagic comes with a choice of 57 pre-designed Skins that can be selected and customized, and supports complete customization for those who prefer to do so. Publishing in FirstClass is done in a true word processor, not a forms-based mechanism like other CMSs. Once the site's containers have been built, adding to the site is merely a matter of creating or modifying a document, which can contain text, pictures, tables and links. Whatever is created is instantly available on the web. FirstMagic can easily be shaped as a Portal, a Blog with anonymous or authenticated commenting, or as a standard web site. Printer-Friendly pages, Breadcrumb navigation for all pages, integrated News ticker, Podcasting, Slideshows from any container, and Password-Protected pages are included.

FirstMagic offers full localization to Danish, English, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish. French and German localization is planned in the near future.

FirstMagic requires the FirstClass Collaboration Suite. FirstClass can be installed as a platform for web site development only, or it can be licensed as a full collaborative environment, providing email, calendaring, contact management, collaborative conferencing and the OpenText Social Workplace collaborative environment.
