2011 Year in Review


2011 was a year of ups and downs. From the middle east to our own backyards the world as we know it will continue to change and evolve at a rapid rate. In no certain order some of the major events of the year for me have been...

1. Seal team six captures and kills Osama bin Laden.

2. Egypt protest the 30-year rule of Hosni Mubarak.

3. Moammar Gadhafi captured and killed.

4. A 9.0 earthquake and then tsunami in Japan.

5. Rep Gabby Giffords was shot in Arizona at a rally

6. NASA launched the final space shuttle mission.

7. Casey Anthony was found not guilty.

8. Murray convicted in the death of Michael Jackson

9. Charlie Sheen went a bit crazy (personal opinion)

10. Child abuse scandals at Penn State & Syracuse

11. Prince William & Catherine Middleton wedding.

12. Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer.

13. Who could forget Tebow’s miraculous victories! :-)

With all that has happened and will certainly continue to happen, it is an absolute must to have a place of your own to slip away from the world and have your very own oasis from the madness. Christmas Ideas

Christmas is always a time of year that is fun and stressful at the same time. From whose family do we travel and see to what on earth I am getting everyone, it can be overwhelming. I believe that the best gift is to be able to spend time with the ones you love.

Obviously we would say the best Christmas gift for your family would be a new swimming pool or signing up for our pool cleaning services, a renovation or you may enjoy a nice fire pit and some hot tea. Whatever you choose we pray that your Christmas will be the best ever and that 2012 will find you with laughter and only tears of joy! Unless the Mayans get their way on 12-21-12 but I guess we will have to wait and see on that :-)

FBP Tips for December


December can be one of the costliest months of the year. With Christmas lights and heaters running nonstop the electricity bill will be something you don't want to un-wrap until next year. Here are some money saving tips concerning your pool and home.

Make sure to run your swimming pool pump from time to time. This may sound contradicting but to save you money sometimes you need to use a bit more electricity. If the weather dips below freezing for several hours the water in your pipes and equipment can freeze causing damage to your equipment which will cost much more than running a pump for a couple of hours.

A lot of heat loss is through windows, plastic window covers can help reduce drafts.

Keep window curtains open during the day to allow solar energy into your home.

Put removable, temporary caulking on the inside of your windows that you can peel off in the spring.

Reduce the temperature on your thermostat when you’re not at home and overnight. Many new thermostats can be programmed to change the temperature automatically.
