Toral Garcia Battista, a leading brain and spinal cord injury law firm in Florida, continues to differentiate itself from any other Florida personal injury law firm with the announcement that Director of Care Management LeAnne Kerr, RN, BSN, and Director of Community Relations Betty Cinelli, BSC, received national certification as brain injury specialists.
The certification, awarded by the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS), ensures both Kerr and Cinelli are up-to-date on all the latest brain injury matters and are knowledgeable on how best to care for brain injury survivors as they navigate through the continuum of care in both the healthcare industry and the courts. The certification involves testing, over 500 hours of verifiable brain injury experience and other comprehensive requirements, with no exceptions allowed.
“Our certified brain specialists enhance the firm’s leadership in the brain and spinal cord injury field by collaborating with the medical community to ensure our clients receive the best available healthcare and resources,” said Frank Toral, senior partner at Toral Garcia Battista and founder of the Toral Family Foundation. “We are not aware of any other law firm in the state that has brain injury specialists on board to provide this level of meaningful care to survivors and their families.”
As Director of Care Management, Kerr is responsible for providing high-level ongoing care management for the law firm’s clients by serving as a liaison to various members of the healthcare community, such as physicians, social workers, registered nurses, physician assistants, and trauma case/program managers. In her capacity as Director of Community Relations, Cinelli is charged with linking survivors of a brain or spinal cord injury and their families with resources as well as managing the firm’s extensive community outreach efforts.
ACBIS certification is a nationally recognized credential that demonstrates specific training in brain injury services in a healthcare field. Those certified must show competency in knowledge of brain anatomy, types of brain injuries, the myriad of agencies that deal with such injuries, effective treatments, specialization of issues for children and adolescents, as well as health and medical management and surrounding legal and ethical issues.
