(November 2nd, 2011 – New York, NY) FMA Magazine, one of New York City’s hottest urban fashion & music magazines, is gearing up for the launch of ‘Music Moves Me’, a refreshing, introspective take on the live performance. Already one of the most sought-after event organizers in the city, FMA brings forth an interactive experience in which the artists humble themselves before an audience of critics, well-wishers, and fans.
Chris Singleton, head honcho at FMA, elaborates on the concept: “Basically, it’s an unplugged concert, and the respective artists will explain the thought process behind their most well-known, and even obscure, records.”
The first artist featured will be R&B up-and-comer Jesse Idol, who will be performing songs from his album, ‘LoveLust’, throughout his hour-long set. A live band will make its debut, and will be a constant feature throughout the series. The event will be hosted by Steve Strickland, music will be provided by trendsetter DJ G $Money.
Akin to VH1’s Storytellers, and its predecessor, MTV Unplugged, the series also serve to increase awareness for the artists. Planned performers are near-breakthrough levels of popularity; and the series hopes to help them break the threshold. “The focus is to get media, fans, radio, DJ’s, and bloggers familiar with the new, emerging talent,” says Chris.
An intimate event, the first show in the concert series will be held fittingly at Arlene’s Grocery, known for its home-grown crowd and strong connection with New York City’s underground scene. The introductory show will be held on Sunday, December 11th, from 6:30pm to 9pm.
Regarding the show’s impact on scheduled performers (and their fans), Chris outlines the show’s high hopes: “The goal of the series is to show that tomorrow’s Drake’s, tomorrow’s Trey Songz’ are out there,” he says. Continuing FMA’s legacy of bringing public awareness to great but otherwise unknown artists, the event will further showcase FMA’s ability to keep their finger on the pulse of music’s heartbeat, while also help break the new artists themselves. “We just wanna give these artists, who already have a great body of work, a platform to display their talent, their thoughts, and their emotions on a higher level.”
