Development flow testing of the upgraded Air Cleaner lid has proven to have dropped the air cleaner’s restriction by as much as 50% when compared to the standard Air Box. Improvements have been made in the development of the systems effective cross sectional area of the air intake, plus increased Air Cleaner Volume, which all contributes to lessen the restriction and improve the overall supply of air into the engine.

Made from a durable Polycarbonate material, the new Air Cleaner lid is a simple replacement item to the standard Air Cleaner Cover and intake duct upper, and can be easily installed within 5 minutes with no other modifications. A single item, it not only offers a simple retrofit, part and weight saving to the current system, but it also benefits from enhancing overall engine and vehicle performance.

Initial vehicle testing has shown improvements in the Focus RS maximum engine performance, in both BHP and torque – vehicle dyno figures highlight gains of 7 BHP and 30 ft/lb on an a standard vehicle. Improvements could reach as much as 20BHP on remapped vehicles - further tests are required to verify these figures.

These gains are only calculated on the installation of the Air Cleaner Air Intake Upgrade, and further improvements are expected once j1 also launch their Focus RS performance Air Filter and Induction Silicon hoses, which will be supplied as either individual items or part of a high performance Air Induction Kit.
