Football game in Bilbao: Students of Spanish vs. a selection of teachers and friends.

On the 6th December a group of international students from Instituto Hemingway played a friendly football match against a group of Spanish friends. The Spanish team had forwards who emulated Raúl and Beckham, players from Real Madrid, o Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho, players from Barcelona CF. On the Spanish team, the players were Ricardo, Iñaki, Asier, Ramón and Jorge. For the students from Instituto Hemingway they were Oliver from New Zealand, Luca from Italy and Christian from Germany, amongst others. The game was well matched from start to finish. The director of Instituto Hemingway also participated, playing as a substitute. The game was watched by teachers such as Rosi, students and friends. The match took place in Basurto, very close to the stadium San Mames where Athletic Bilbao play their matches.

It was a 2 hour passionate match which no-one wanted to end. The referee was a little biased for the Spanish team to win although it was a friendly match. In the end the International team of Instituto Hemingway students won and the pools which predicted Spanish defeat where correct. Football is the King’s sport and at Instituto Hemingway we didn´t want to miss the opportunity to be protagonists.

Instituto Hemingway’s Football Manager will have to make new signings if he wants to win the league in 2008!
