(Free-Press-Release.com) January 14, 2011 -- Former Jacksonville General Counsel Rick Mullaney needed just one quarter to surge to the top of the fundraising pack in the race to be the city’s mayor in 2011.
Mullaney raised $345,000 between April and June, blowing past Audrey Moran, the Sulzbacher Center president who’d been leading the money race since she began her campaign last fall.
Finance reports in the mayoral race are due Monday, but Mullaney released his numbers Thursday on his Facebook page. The list of donors won’t be available until he files his report with the Supervisor of Elections Office on Monday.

Moran raised $68,000 this quarter, bringing her total to $294,000.

In 1964, when the schools became disaccredited, my mother went to work to take my brothers and RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO out of public school at Wesconnett elementary and put us in school at Sacred Heart.

My father, who dropped out of high school to join the Navy after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, got his GED at age 38. Then, after 22 years in the Navy, he took the GI Bill to college and received his degree from the University of Florida in 1970. My father went on to teacher political science, history, and social studies at Forrest High School for 21 years. He was my political science teacher my senior year at Forrest.

www.RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO graduated from Forrest in 1973 and received academic and debate scholarships to UF. www.RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO also sold books door-to-door in North Carolina and West Virginia to put myself through undergraduate and law school at Florida. www.RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO was fortunate to do well at Florida, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and number one in the College of Arts and Sciences in undergraduate school and as Executive Editor of the Law Review and Best Oralist on the Moot Court Team in law school.

After graduation from law school in 1980, www.RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO practiced business litigation with Carlton, Fields, then Florida’s largest law firm. www.RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO joined the State Attorneys Office in 1982 and was a prosecutor for 10 years, while teaching business law at UNF. RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO enjoyed my decade as a prosecutor and was named Prosecutor of the Year for the State of Florida in 1991.

In 1991, www.RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO joined the General Counsel’s Office, a 40 lawyer public law office, and defended the City in civil lawsuits and was an advisor to the Austin administration. After John Delaney was elected Mayor, RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO served as his first Chief of Staff. In 1997,www. RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO was appointed General Counsel by Mayor Delaney and served as General Counsel until June 30, 2010. RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO have been fortunate, as someone who loves Jacksonville and who has lived here 50 years, to work on the City’s major public policy and legal issues for nearly 3 decades. Since www.RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO graduated from law school 30 years ago, www.RICKMULLANEYFORMAYOR.INFO have been fortunate to work in private practice, teach business law as an adjunct professor, and serve as prosecutor for 10 years, city attorney and advisor to the Austin Administration, Chief of Staff to former Mayor Delaney, and General Counsel for nearly 13 years.

We have been married over 20 years and have 3 children: Taylor is a junior at William and Mary, Richie is in 9th grade, and Katie is in 5th grade. My parents were married 51 years when my mother passed away. My father passed away the next year. They instilled in us a belief in faith, education, and service.
