Queens, New York, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) December 10, 2011 --Honored for their work in the community and their commitment to excellence, over 35 men and young men of promise were inducted into the Great Men of Excellence Academy of Kings recently. The 2nd Annual event was held at the Black Spectrum Theater and was a sold out success. The keynote speaker Minister Abdul Hafeez Muhammad spoke of the importance of men of integrity and character in the world. Among those honored are Judge Duane Hart, Democratic District Leader Anthony Andrews, LaVar Young, The Honorable David Dinkins, Business Mogul George Fraser, Award winning DJ Dahved Levy and in his memory the Percy Sutton Legacy Award was accepted by his granddaughter Keisha Sutton-James.

Four exceptional Young Men of Promise also received honors, including Maurice Johnson who was a winner at the 2010 Nassau County Youth Singing Contest sponsored by HealthFirst. HealthFirst was a leading sponsor for the 1st and 2nd Annual event, which speaks to their dedication and commitment to the communities and families of New York and New Jersey.

The event was sponsored by I'm Just Saying, LLC and is designed to showcase phenomenal men in and around New York while inspiring young men and women with what is possible for them.

The Great Men of Excellence Awards is held on or near International Men's Day in New York City every year. The honorees are invited to participate in S.W.A.G. University the evening before the awards program where they share their experience with young men and women throughout New York and answer questions in a group mentoring format. S.W.A.G. University was sponsored this year by The Madison Square Boys and Girls Club, Thomas S. Murphy Clubhouse in Brooklyn and I.S. 59 in Queens.
