FORMER NFL PLAYER LEVAR FISHER SPEAKS OUT ON YOUTH BULLYING

Chicago -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Dec 6, 2010 -- CHICAGO — December 6, 2010 — I called him Mr. Punk. Turns out Mr. Punk was around one day when I was talking about my NFL plans. It’s like he was waiting for the right moment. He waved his bony finger in my face and called me fat, slow, and weak. “No way you’re ever going to make it to the NFL…or even to college,” he yells. At this point, other guys are starting to circle me and now Mr. Punk is cackling with laughter. Now, there’s like 50 guys circling around me pointing and making fun.

When I tell this story to people, I often say that I wish I could personally thank Mr. Punk because he’s one reason I made it to the NFL. I decided right then and there that I’d prove him wrong. And, let me tell you…nothing is more fun than proving people wrong.

The current epidemic of youth bullying is a serious issue today. Schools, governments, and organizations are taking steps to create real consequences for bullies. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, 29.9% of American students are involved in some way with school bullying. Now we have to worry about cyber-bullying, which can be just as damaging as face-to-face bullying.

My name is Levar Fisher, retired NFL player for the Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints, and now a Motivational Speaker traveling across the country, changing the world; one life at a time. For the past several years, I’ve spoken to thousands of groups of all ages about achieving dreams and how the importance of a healthy self-confidence can make any person’s future the brightest and best it can be.
