FORMER PARAMEDIC TURNS TRAGEDY INTO PUBLIC SERVICE

Later, Meyer served as an Airport Rescue Firefighter. Soon after, John Meyer became an MICU Paramedic and went on to instruct EMS courses until tragedy struck.

In March 2005, an unforeseen tragedy caused John’s life to change forever. He was injured on the job in a motor vehicle accident that injured him and his partner. The accident left him permanently disabled and confined to a wheelchair. The injuries to his spinal cord and nerves coupled with a fractured spine limited his activities and ended the public service career for which he was so passionate.

After his injury, Meyer researched numerous options for injured public service workers and found several charities for firefighters and police officers, but could not locate a single foundation that would support an injured paramedic or their family. Recognizing a void in the industry, this led Meyer to decide to create a charitable organization for all emergency service personnel to fill the abyss. The Meyer Family has founded and personally funded MJ’S 911 Guardian Angel Foundation, Inc. They have formally established a non-profit organization for injured EMT’s, paramedics and other emergency service personnel as well as their families. MJs 911 Guardian Angel Foundation, Inc. Will also provide financial assistance for Paramedic training and education, as well.
