Former Professional Standout Brings Midnight Basketball To Boise Youths

It has been three months, and former professional and collegiate basketball standout Michael Quinney is already making waves in Idaho’s Treasure Valley. A decorated athlete at every level of play, Quinney has become an integral part of Idaho’s own HSBCAMPS, HSB Academy, and has now founded his own venture with Twilight Hoops. An adaptation of similar programs in Oakland, California, Quinney’s childhood home, Twilight Hoops will provide student athletes and young adults the opportunity to showcase their skills on the court late into the morning hours. A series of continuous five-on-five runs, Friday nights in Boise will never be the same.

“My colleagues and I found that there were many young players in Boise with nowhere to play,” shared Quinney. “After rousing some local support from various organizations including the Boise School District, as a group, we felt that something of this nature could really make an impact on these kids.” Twilight Hoops will become the second Boise venture Quinney has been a part of as he is also a founding member of HSB Academy, Idaho’s first year round youth basketball training Academy. In just over ninety days, Quinney an Idaho native Carson Sofro (HSBCAMPS Founder), have volunteered, trained, and impacted more than 300 young men and women throughout the southern part of the state. “It’s all about the kids and creating opportunities for them,” Quinney added. “My hope is that someday, we can offer Twilight Hoops throughout the entire Treasure Valley.”
