40notes is a luxury-niche fragrance company specializing in custom perfume creation and fragrance design. In the words of it’s founder, 40notes is dedicated to “bringing the essence of beauty to life”. The Signature Perfume Collection, the first for the company, uses rare, exquisite perfume materials sourced from all over the world. Miriam's training as an architectural interior designer set the stage for her career in developing one-of-a-kind creations, but her love of perfume goes back to the very beginning. "As a child, I have memories of my mother returning home from a 'grownups' party with the scent of perfume, hairspray and cigarettes (not hers!) enveloping her when she bent over to kiss me goodnight. It felt like I entered another world, and I loved it!”said Miriam.

Once she entered the fragrance industry in New York City, her career unfolded in a way she could have only dreamed of: into perfume creation. It was while she was with acclaimed fragrance house IFF in NYC (International Flavors & Fragrances) that she was mentored by world-class noses, guiding the development of some of the most successful fragrances in the world. She has smell memories from five continents that inspire her, from China, Africa, Indonesia as well as South America.

The company is a marriage of her technical, industry, olfactive and aesthetic expertise. Like in the movie “The Mistress of the Spices” , Miriam creates fragrances based on emotional as well as olfactive connections to the materials in her studio. The soul of 40notes is the mantra “cherish what you own”, like a precious gemstone. In the new economic reality of buy-less-appreciate-more, owning a 40notes creation is more than another purchase; it’s an experience, a personal talisman.

When creating a custom scent, Miriam inspires her clients towards what they love, or more precisely, towards how they love to feel. She creates for men as well as women, with essential oils, absolutes and hydro-distilled florals as well as new molecules. Custom scent is for anyone who connects with their senses, values beauty, and enjoys receiving something designed solely for them. "Custom perfumery is about more than wearing a fragrance... it's about self-enhancement. Scent instantaneously connects us with our center.” said Miriam

The Signature Perfume Collection consists of 7 highly concentrated perfume oils, decanted into a10ml French glass perfume bottle with glass stopper. Each fragrance highlights a signature note, usually of special or exotic origin. 'Spring Vetiver', for example, is led by natural Vetiver, an earthy/grassy/woody note, and is rounded out with pink grapefruit and light floral notes to freshen and feminize the finished fragrance.

In addition to Spring Vetiver, the other fragrances in the line are Sampaguita Jasmine, White Winter Flower, Exotic Ylang Ylang, Cashmere Musk, Exquisite Amber, and Oudwood Veil.
