Free House Plans - Questions About Copyright Laws
Free house plans or not, there are some copyright laws that need to be re-written or done away with. What do you think?
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) August 2, 2009 --
Steve Nyhof Enterprises, Inc. has developed a new website system offering free house plans, and free from copyright law issues in August, 2009.
I wanted to write about something that we as a nation have just adopted with little concern to whether or not it makes any sense. That is the issue of copyright Infringement on house plans.
Like anything, there are rules and regulations put into place to enforce things like the copying of house plans and ideas. Years ago, designers and architects just drew a plan that built a house. There was no thought of making copies of the plan to sell and benefit again.
We can also assume that most of the ideas came from clients who wanted a plan drawn. How many people have come to a designer and asked the designer what they think the client needs. No, the client told the designer what they wanted. At first it was the client giving ideas to the designers, the designer then helps to put the plan ideas together.
Then house plan books became available and designers could now duplicate a plan an infinite number of times. But it most likely was the producers of the plan books that enforced copyright so they could protect the designers plans, as these ideas were now made available for everyone to view.
This sounds like a good idea for the designers, what do they have to loose, they have all these plans because clients gave them the ideas and already paid for the plans in the first place. Now the designer can make money over and over on the clients plans and ideas. But isn't it convenient that the copyright to a plan is given to the designer? How many clients have had their ideas used over and over to benefit house plan book producers and designers selling plans over and over?
Now the Internet is full of house plans. Images are everywhere. The designers have long forgotten that the only reason they are in business selling production house plans on the Internet is because they cowardly stand behind a copyright law that takes ideas from paying home owners, benefiting from their house plans and ideas.
Then to top it off, after displaying thousands of images of house plan ideas for years on the Internet for everyone to look at, the designers are now using the copyright laws to pursue people for looking at all the ideas they put on the Internet.
Steve said, "At our website, we offer free house plans with no copyright strings attached. We recognize that in this day and age that ideas are everywhere. This website is focused on free house plans and a community that understands that if a designer or architect wants to show their house plans on the Free House Plans website, it is there for ideas to benefit the community of users, whether they are prospective home owners or other designers within the community. People are going to use the ideas they see, that's how many people learn what they like and what they do not like."
I would be happy to hear your comments concerning this issue.
