FRONTIER SOFTWARE SUPPORTS ROUND-THE-WORLD CYCLE RECORD

(Free-Press-Release.com) December 30, 2009 -- James Bowthorpe broke the world record by a staggering 20 days – a previous record set by Mark Beaumont last year - covering the 18,000 miles in 175 days. The 32 years-old Londoner set off from Hyde Park in March 2009 to cross 20 countries by bicycle to raise funds for What’s Driving Parkinson’s, the charity responsible for researching the disease suffered by Bowthorpe’s grandfather.

Along the way, James faced many challenges including an attempted mugging in Iran, a high-speed collision with a wombat in Australia as well as suffering a debilitating sickness in India – which almost derailed the record attempt.

Michael Howard caught up with James when he passed through Piccadilly, London and presented the Globecycle Venture with a cheque for £9,000. The money will help support the next stage of the What’s Driving Parkinson’s research programme a radical new approach, investigating the role of infection in causing and driving Parkinson’s www.whatsdrivingparkinsons.net.
