Further Improvements To Union Corner Hall In Hailsham

February 19, 2010

Landscaping and fencing work has now got underway at the Union Corner Hall in Hawks Road.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 19, 2010 -- Minor landscaping work on the area of grass to the rear of the hall’s car park including the removal of brambles and the trimming of existing trees, is being carried out by town council works staff, and the Union Corner Pre-School has agreed to meet the cost of the materials.

Additional improvements will include the installation of 17 metres of picket fencing to enclose the area, which will incorporate a picket gate for maintenance access.

Cllr Robin Kempe, vice-chairman of the town council’s Burials & Properties Committee said, “Improvements to this well-used centre will mean the building can be enjoyed by even more people. Hailsham Town Council is absolutely delighted to be able to carry out this work and look forward to the project’s completion.”

Gary Windeatt, chairman of Union Corner Pre-School commented, “Children need somewhere outside the hall to play and currently there is nowhere suitable for this. The work being undertaken by town council staff will help us in our endeavours to make the area more useable, and the trimming of existing trees will ensure that we meet current health and safety requirements.”

Additional improvements to the outside of the hall which could be discussed in the near future include both the installation of an awning and application of wet pour rubber tarmac directly to the rear of the building.
