Arizona Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) have strong showing at National Leadership Conference and Arizona member elected to National Office!

On June 28th, 2011 over 200 Arizona high school students and business teachers attended the 2010 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference in Orlando, FL. In order to qualify for this conference, students competed in over 50 different business related events at the state level and the top winners were chosen to represent Arizona at the National Conference. With over 8,000 FBLA members from across the country in attendance, the Arizona delegation had a strong showing, bringing home 17 national awards. Below is a list of Arizona FBLA National Award Winners:

7th – Virtual Business Challenge – Anthony Benites & Saul Keskin (Metro Tech HS)

8th – Desktop Application Programming – Daniel Wilcox (Ironwood HS)
9th – Intro to Technology Concepts – Jacob Valenzuela (Mt. View HS – Marana)
10th – Intro to Technology Concepts – Kyle Wight (Boulder Creek HS)
10th – Public Speaking II – Yoseline Morales (Metro Tech HS)
Who’s Who Award – Aaron Wodka, Nogales HS
America Level Winner – Perla Carrillo (Metro Tech HS)
America Level Winner – Maria Sanchez (Metro Tech HS)

America Level Winner – Logan Nunamaker (Prescott HS)

In addition to competition, Nogales FBLA member and former FBA Arizona State President, Aaron Wodka, was elected to serve as the National Western Region Vice President. This is FBLA Arizona’s first national officer in 7 years. Aaron will travel the country and represent FBLA at various events over the next year.

Finally, Mr. Ryan Hamilton, State Director of FBLA Arizona, was elected to serve as the Board of Directors Chair for FBLA-PBL. This position provides guidance at the national level and will allow Mr. Hamilton to influence FBLA-PBL policy on the national level. Mr. Hamilton is also a former FBLA member and Career and Technical Education student.

FBLA is a dynamic organization of young people who are actively interested in pursuing careers in business. Housed and funded in-part by Career and Technical Education Division in the Arizona Department of Education, John Huppenthal – State Superintendant of Public Instruction, FBLA is an integral part of business and IT programs in Arizona. With over 225,000 members nation-wide, FBLA is the premier student business organization in the entire world. Along with scholarship, community service and civic service opportunities, FBLA provides recognition and leadership activities directly related to attainment of specific occupational and leadership skills.
