Future Plans of Ohio Senior Olympics to be Discussed

August 26, 2010

Larry Werstler, local Senior Olympic Advocate, will be Featured Guest on Wriggling in the Middle Talk Radio Show

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) August 26, 2010 -- Larry Werstler, Ohio’s local Senior Olympic advocate, will be the featured guest on North Ohio’s WHBC 1480 Talk Radio Show, Wriggling in the Middle , on Monday, August 30th at 9:10 am (Eastern time).

As a senior and self-proclaimed “sportsaholic”, Mr. Werstler’s vision was to create a healthier lifestyle for him and develop opportunities for others like him to develop or maintain their healthy lifestyles. His vision included training and participating in the Senior Olympics, but found that in the area of Canton, Ohio, the Senior Olympics had all but disappeared. So with the support of retired teachers, coaches, recreational directors, athletes and local experts, Mr. Werstler was able to re-establish the Hall of Fame Regional Senior Olympics in Ohio and last year they hosted over 18 sporting events with close to 300 senior athletes. The goal for next year is to reach out to over 1000 senior athletes in the Canton, Ohio area.

Dr. Merle Griff, Wriggling in the Middle Show co-host had this to say “After interviewing and speaking with hundreds of baby boomers over recent years, I have come to the conclusion that you can never under-estimate a boomer’s determination to get something accomplished. Mr. Werstler had a vision that he was able to bring to life, thereby helping to create a vibrant and active senior community.”

On Monday, Mr. Werstler will talk about his challenges in bringing the Senior Olympics to the area and share some amazing experiences with radio listeners. Every Monday from 9-10 a.m. radio hosts Dr. Merle Griff and DeLores Pressley, co-hosts of Wriggling in the Middle 9http://www.wrigglingonline.com ), discuss the dilemmas and delights of being part of the ‘sandwich generation’ and responsible for the care of multiple generations. As a special highlight, each show features an expert to add lively discussion and perspective to the show’s topics.
