(Raleigh, NC)— Today, Todd Gailas filed as a Republican candidate for U. S. House of Representatives from the Second Congressional District of North Carolina. He officially announced his candidacy on February 6th, 2010, at the Ronald Reagan Republican Roundup in Cumberland County; since that time, he has witnessed growing strong support for his campaign for a common-sense, constitutional government; today, Gailas made his candidacy official.

At a news conference afterwards in Raleigh, Gailas said it is time for new leadership in Congress.

"Bob Etheridge has been in Washington DC for 14 years; that is far too long and he’s become disconnected with the citizens of the Second District. He, and other career politicians, needs to return home to reconnect with their constituents; at the same time, we need to send someone to DC that will represent us rather than govern us," said Gailas. "Mr. Etheridge has had his opportunity but has squandered it. Voting with Nancy Pelosi and along party lines over 97% of the time, Mr. Etheridge has elected to become a tool of special interests.”

“Further, by voting in favor of pork-laden, multi-trillion dollar, job-killing legislation without even reading the bill, he has clearly become part of the problem. In November, we are going to send a clear message that it’s time for a change. I will work tirelessly to reform broken government processes, end favoritism for powerful special interests, and restore our Constitutional government. I believe that the citizens of North Carolina have waited long enough to have their voices heard. I pledge to be your voice in Congress.”

As a Cary, NC, resident and a small business owner himself, Gailas understands what it takes to create jobs and understands what concerns our residents. He is particularly appalled at federal initiatives to bail out Wall Street and Corporate America on the backs of those on Main Street. Gailas committed to demonstrating the leadership and integrity necessary to deal with the challenges ahead. His guiding principles focus upon a limited, Constitutional Government; economic prosperity; and individual rights. By returning to these principles, he feels we can address the government-induced problems facing us today.

Gailas also launched his Web site which can be found at www.GailasForCongress.com. North Carolinians can visit the site to see his positions on key issues, news releases, upcoming events, contact information, biography, volunteer information and contributions pages.
