SaveThisPlace.com, designed by well-known author and entrepreneur Lauren Elliott, co-creator of the world famous ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego’ game series, is matching the current demand for LBS - location based games with a fun way to do something good at the same time.
Players take their cell phones to places that they want to own, take a photo and send it in to the site. If no one else owns it, they can purchase the land for $1 - proceeds go to organizations as The American Red Cross, and Room to Read.

The earth is divided into nearly 14 billion pieces of land, so with any luck, and some enterprising travelers we’ll make our goal of $1 billion”, says Mr. Elliott.
