Education is a lifelong endeavor, and begins as early as 18 months old at Garden of Discovery Montessori School. Parents are part of the educational model, and help develop educational plans for each child.

Garden of Discovery Montessori School is accredited by the Association Montessori
Internationale (AMI) (http://www.montessori-ami.org).. We proudly offer a curriculum of Excellence that features hands on work instead of rote memorization. In Montessori, the curriculum follows the child; the child does not follow the curriculum. Through this method there is not “falling between the cracks” or “being left behind.”

Leadership Training

Through Garden of Discovery Montessori School, children learn life attributes of self-motivation, discipline, integrity, and perseverance. Children who have completed Montessori education become competent leaders, entrepreneurs, and have thrived in their career paths.

Indoor and Outdoor Classrooms
Every classroom is fully equipped with the AMI approved Montessori educational materials.
Each classroom has numerous windows and easy access to a peaceful, yet educational outdoor
classroom, where the children explore gardening, nature study, wood working, and other
activities. Tucked between our soccer field and playgrounds is a beautiful apple and peach
orchard that produce fruit every summer.

Afternoon Enrichment and Culture

Art, Music, History, Science, Foreign Language, and Nature are all integrated into the daily
Montessori curriculum. However, we offer fun and exciting enrichment across the curriculum such as, Art, Music, Spanish, Physical Fitness; all taught by professionals in each area. These activities are designed for that extra spark of interest that your child might have in one of these cultural areas.

Meal Program
We proudly offer a meal program of fresh foods prepared by a registered dietician and
nutritionist. Each meal is carefully planned with flavor, variety and healthiness kept at the

highest priority. Our garden program consists of sustainable fruits, vegetables and herbs that
are often hand selected by the children to be prepared and served for snack and lunch.

Our Faculty
Garden of Discovery is a family owned business. Our Head of School, Stephanie Michielsen
holds an AMI Primary Diploma and an undergraduate degree in Business Management. She
has both extensive classroom and whole school administration experience. Mrs. Michielsen’s
four children all have attended Garden of Discovery Montessori from a very young age.
All of our teachers are highly qualified, each holding and AMI diploma and an undergraduate

degree. Our assistant teachers hold certificates from the Montessori Institute of Atlanta.
