George Michael Soon In London

June 9, 2011

Having left behind his career with the memorable 80s band WHAM, George Michael has known just as well for his scandals as he is his music...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 9, 2011 -- ... Despite this, reflecting this in his songs wherever possible, and turning bad publicity into good.

Probably everybody heard about “the troubles” of George Michael. Singer George Michael was sentenced to serve eight weeks in jail and had his licensed revoked for five years on Tuesday for driving under the influence of drugs after he drove his car into a shop in London.
District Judge John Perkins said that the former Wham! singer’s marijuana addiction put him and the public at risk.

According to a police report of the incident, the singer looked “spaced out” when they found him sitting in the car before dawn of July 4. Michael admitted that he was smoking marijuana and taking a sedative, prosecution lawyers said.
This is the latest in a string of drug related automobile accidents that the singer was involved in. He was found slumped at the wheel of his vehicle in February 2006 and again in October 2006, and was sentenced to community service.
Michael’s lawyer Mukul Chawla said that, “It is no exaggeration to describe him as a very kind, considerate and loyal man, constantly concerned for the plight of others. The prospect he could have put anyone else in danger is an appalling prospect to him.” (empowerednews.net/author/kade/)

George Michael to perform at KCA Black Ball London

George Michael is confirmed to perform at Keep a Child Alive's Black Ball, hosted by Alicia Keys and Mark Ronson on June 15th 2011 at The Roundhouse, London.

Keep a Child Alive's Black Ball is a spectacular fundraiser where celebrity and philanthropy walk hand in hand. The evening celebrates the work of Keep a Child Alive (KCA) while raising money to provide treatment, care, nutrition and a future to children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

The Black Ball London 2011 will also feature performances from Tinie Tempah and Paloma Faith. Guests of the Black Ball London will enjoy an intimate cocktail party, live auction and spectacular seated dinner with performances by Alicia Keys and some of the world's top recording artists.

"I've been a fan of George Michael for as long I can remember. He is a legend and an inspiration. His work raising awareness and funds for those suffering with the HIV virus has spanned three decades. I'm honoured that George has lent his voice to our KCA cause and I'm so excited that he's singing for us at the Black Ball in London. It's going to be an amazing night!" (Alicia Keys)

George Michael attended a press conference at the Royal Opera House in London 11th of May 2011 where he announced he was returning to the stage in the company of a full orchestra for a 47-date tour of Europe this year.

He announced the tour and said he felt "re-energised after my recent troubles". "I've always wanted to sing with this kind of backing so I could really, really use my voice and not just concentrate on keeping thousands and thousands of people really excited for two and a half hours," he also said. "I've probably got one more of those tours in me but right now I'd like to have something slightly different." George Michael said the tour would feature reinterpreted songs that are personal favourites of his.

'Symphonica: The Orchestral Tour' will begin in the Czech Republic on August 22 and end in England on December 12. The show has one more date at the Paris Opera on April 29 next year, which George Michael said would probably kick off a second leg touring other parts of the world.

In the gaps between the tours, George Michael said he would work on his new dance-themed album, gathering together a collective of gay artists.

Symphonica will see George Michael hit over 15 countries across Europe from August through December 2011. Some of the amazing venues already lined up include Piazza Santa Croce in Florence, Palau San Jordi in Barcelona, London's legendary Royal Albert Hall, and many more!
