It is the look of 3” granite treads laid over real stone but the construction technique stands up better to rugged New England winters. “When a step is built using individual granite treads that are mortared to a stone base the water can get under the treads and in winter the freeze/thaw process can actually cause the bond between the tread and the stone base to be lost resulting in loose treads. Our ‘poured in one piece construction‘ eliminates that problem.” , says Brown.
