GEORGIA-PACIFIC PROFESSIONAL FOOD SERVICES SOLUTIONS SETS STANDARD FOR SUSTAINABILITY WITH DIXIE® BEVERAGE PRODUCT LINE

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 4, 2009 -- ATLANTA – Georgia-Pacific Professional Food Services Solutions showcases its complete line of DIXIE® beverage solutions, featuring EcoSmart®. The innovative product line demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting its customers’ sustainability goals. The product line includes the new DIXIE® PLA paper hot cup and DIXIE® Insulair® triple wall cup made with up to 25 percent recycled material.

Designed to meet the environment and performance needs in the marketplace, the DIXIE® PLA paper hot cups contain PLA (poly lactic acid), derived from natural resources like corn. In addition, the DIXIE® Insulair® triple wall cup, now available with 12 or 25 percent recycled fiber options, features an insulating middle layer made from 99 percent recycled fiber that keeps beverages hot, while comfortable to the touch.

The EcoSmart® line of products can be processed in commercial composting operations – should there be one located in a customer’s area. The fiber portion and the coating that make up the PLA-lined paper hot cups are 100 percent compostable. The Insulair® cups are also compostable in commercial composting facilities, which may or may not exist in all areas. The coating is not inherently compostable; however, the residual polyethylene coating will be screened out of the compost during the final composting step.

Cups are available in all popular sizes (8-, 12-, 16-, 20- and 24-ounce). Insulair® customers can choose between a variety of attractive stock designs, including Viridian™, Aroma™ and Interlude™. The DIXIE® PLA paper hot cups are available in the popular Viridian™ stock design, and customers can leverage custom graphic capabilities with sharp resolution and rich colors to match their own branded custom graphics.
