Get Away, From Bangkok to Germany…All with Funding From ILA

April 6, 2011

More and more Scottish residents are jetting off on life-changing adventures overseas, thanks to a government scheme that funds TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) courses.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 6, 2011 -- Certain Scottish residents can claim £200 towards the cost of an i-to-i TEFL course; enabling them to teach English in incredible places all over the world, from Barcelona to Buenos Aires. Any Scottish resident who is over 16 and earns £22,000 per year or less could qualify for this scheme through ILA Scotland.

By becoming TEFL qualified, Scottish residents can experience the rewards and challenges of living and working overseas. There’s no need for any previous teaching experience or the ability to speak another language – just to be fluent in English. It is a fantastic, CV enhancing experience, enabling people to travel abroad and teach the English language to non-native English speakers.

Hannah Brant, an i-to-i TEFL course graduate who attended the University of Dundee, since teaching in China, said: “I always wanted to travel and work in other countries and my experiences from teaching in China have been life changing…I have gained so much!”

“After getting my TEFL certificate, I completed an internship in Yantai, where I worked as a kindergarten teacher for 5 months. After my internship came to an end, I found a new job as a middle-school teacher in Ping Lu. Living in China is entirely different from the UK and, although it was scary at first, is it actually great fun! I have been here 7 months and have done so much”

“I have also met some amazing people who have become good friends. It makes you appreciate what you have back home and it’s also really rewarding to see your students’ English improving. I hope that my experiences help me when I return to the UK, but the memories that I have and the friends that I have made are far more important!”

Also, Stephen Reid, another i-to-i graduate who decided to teach in Mexico, said, “I was looking for a change from my job and I was bored at home. I wanted to go on an adventure and was recommended i-to-i TEFL by some friends. Then I found out I could receive ILA funding and decided to give it a go. I took the 120 Hour Combined Course and it was brilliant!”

“My time teaching has been amazing and I’m still out here, teaching English in Mexico. I’ve met so many people and visited loads of different places. My advice would be to grasp this opportunity and enjoy yourself. Your life will change in so many ways…for the better. It’s a great way to make a difference and easily the best decision I have made”.

These stories reflect the essence of ILA perfectly. ILA funding acts as a helping hand in the journey towards teaching abroad – which will help; improve confidence, enhance career prospects, make new friends and experience new and exciting cultures. And with i-to-i’s TEFL courses starting at £139, it’s possible to get qualified for free!
