Get Inspired Short Story Competition

“I was inspired by the writing workshops at the Sydney Writers’ Festival’s to launch our first short story competition,” says Belinda Stinson of She Inspires. “Sitting in a room full of passionate writers coming from such a variety of backgrounds with the one common love for writing and reading got me questioning how to help keep the flow of creativity going. I love the enthusiasm our readers have for our online prize pack competitions so hosting a writing competition with a cash prize was such a logical fit."

She Inspires is an online magazine reflecting the varied interests of today's women and celebrating inspiration.

“As women we’re always offering support and encouragement; inspiring others in our daily lives,” explains Belinda. “Given how negative so many women’s magazines often are we decided that a publication that is about offering a well of inspiration for women (and men) to dip into to renew their spirits would be something to celebrate, to enjoy.” She Inspires is named after all the women in our lives who constantly offer inspiration to their family, friends and colleagues.

So to keep the logic going from the writing workshops the theme for the She Inspires short story competition is ‘inspiration’. It is a broad theme to allow the individual creativity of each writer to tell their own story in their own way, all within 3,000 words. Writers are invited to interpret this theme any way they wish.

She Inspires is calling for writers to send in their submission by Wednesday 14th July 2010. “Competitions have a closing date and it’s amazing how deadlines are so effective for getting the creative thoughts going and the words flowing,” says Belinda. This short story competition is a great opportunity for aspiring writers to hone their writing skills and get their work published.

* Stories must be submitted with the She Inspires entry form found at www.sheinspires.com.au/win by 14th July 2010.

* Short story of 3,000 words or less.

* Your story should be based on 'Inspiration' whether literal, or the writer's own interpretation of the word.

* Story must be original and not previously published.

* Your story must be typed on A4 paper, single spacing, one sided, 12 font only, with no names or identifying marks.
