At Saturday's 6th Annual GlamourGals Leadership Training Institute, 74 volunteers from the tristate area gathered at the Helen Mills Event Space to celebrate their achievements throughout the year, participate in a professional photo shoot, and hear from leaders in the fields of media, beauty, and finance.
"We are embarking on an adventure today, an adventure that started 10 years ago," GlamourGals founder Rachel Doyle told the group of girls in her introductory remarks. "A lot of creativity brought us here today. Creativity keeps us together from California to Scotland."
Singer-songwriter Nadine Loren conducted interviews on the PoshGlam Hot Pink Carpet as each GlamourGals high school chapter arrived, while being photographed, paparazzi-style, by representatives from the Artists and Creatives Agency.
The Institute's keynote speaker, Lauren Ruotolo, is the director of entertainment promotions for the Hearst Corporation. Lauren has lived and worked with McCune-Albright syndrome, which has required her to use crutches from the age of five. "This is not just an organization but a community of women." Referring to the elderly women, Ms. Ruotolo told the girls, "You are truly their angels."
Ms. Ruotolo stressed the necessity of the volunteers participating in the GlamorurGals chapter community boards. "Remember to communicate and never stop striving," she stressed.
Speaking at the event were Achelle Dunaway, Creative Director of e.l.f. cosmetics, Melissa Meyers, founder and Editor in Chief of AskMelissa, and Caryn Zweig, Chief Operating Operator of Abner, Herrman & Brock and GlamourGals Advisory Board member.
After the panel, the volunteers split into groups for the Beauty Blogger Luncheon, sponsored by Tossed and Hint Water. Each group spent an hour asking the fourteen beauty bloggers and writers about their industry, how they got started writing, and what it's like writing about beauty. After the luncheon, Artists and Creatives Agency staged a full-scale fashion photo shoot. Eight girls were professionally made up and photographed, while the other volunteers collaborated on the shoot's art direction.
