St Thomas, US Virgin Islands, 2009- Artist Tracy Perry knows how to improve upon Mother Nature with her popular custom sand signs, each handmade on the shores of St. Thomas. Growing up in San Diego, CA, the coast has always been a significant part of Perry’s life. Living in an area known for great surf and sand, it was a welcome opportunity when given the chance to move to the Caribbean with her husband Dennis. Once settled, the Perry’s decided to honor the Caribbean tradition of giving their home a name, so “Perry’s Island Dream,” became the inspiration to create a sign for the front entrance. Using elements from the beach, Perry found herself with numerous requests for more custom creations. Little did she know she was “testing the waters,” and before long the idea of Sea Sand Designs was formed.

Sea Sand Designs offers a list of over 60 clever phrases and suggestions for any piece, or clients can come up with one of their own. “I gain inspiration from the customer by allowing them to choose words that resonate within them. I then capture that vision through art creating a custom piece, unique to each person.,” says founder Tracy Perry.
