The Glendale Kiwanis is hosting a family-oriented, fun-filled event with entertainment, games, and food where the Kiwanis club will build their own lake and race course where Rubber Ducks will compete. The event, most often called a “Duck Race” by the more than 200 event producers around the world, takes place Saturday, October 15th between 10:00am and 2:00pm at Verdugo Park, 1621 Cañada Blvd, Glendale. Preliminary “Splash” race heats start at 10:15am with the final race at 1:45pm.
All proceeds from the event will benefit 30-80 non-profit organizations, programs and schools throughout Glendale and communities of Los Angeles County including:
Boys and Girls Clubs
Children’s Health & Welfare Agencies
Church Youth Programs
Service Club Programs
Public and Private Schools
Participants can adopt their own duck by making a $5.00 donation per duck. Adopting 7 ducks pays a year’s membership for a child in a Boys And Girls Club. Adopting 9 ducks pays for a child car safety seat to a needy family. Adopting 20 ducks provides a 3-month supply of rice and beans for 9 homeless families in Southern California.
Each adopted duck helps in a significant way towards improving the lives of children living in Los Angeles County.
