Glenmore Audi's Doug Shostak Presented With Alberta Dealers of Excellence Award

(Free-Press-Release.com) June 2, 2011 -- Calgary Alberta 23 May – With a lifetime of involvement and commitment to the car industry and to the Audi brand, Doug Shostak has been rewarded by his peer group of fellow car dealers by winning the Alberta Dealer of Excellence Award.

The award is given to the General Manager of the dealership that shows commitment and involvement to the local community, business acumen and overall customer satisfaction.

Having started in the business at the age of 18 as a "lot boy", Doug made the commitment to the industry at an early age. After graduating from Georgian College, Doug went to work for his family, which owns the South Centre Fine Cars dealership. At the time Audis were sold alongside Volkswagens and Porsches, and in his first year, only 14 Audi's were sold.

Audi asked its dealers to set up separate sales points for the brand, and Doug embraced the challenge setting up Glenmore Audi in 2002. The store did so well that in 2007 a second store was opened, Royal Oak Audi, and now between the two Audi stores, almost 1,000 Audis were sold in 2010.

"I know it's a cliché line, but I just treat people the way I would want to be treated -nicely, honestly, and in an upfront manner," Shostak says. "Plus, I have really good people working for me, and they all make me a lot better than I really am."

"The biggest thing about this award," Shostak says, "is that it's voted on by your peers -and that's always a good thing, and it makes it a pretty special award to get."

Doug is most proud of his commitment to the community with his involvement with the MDA Charity Classic Golf Tournament, for Special Olympics, in which it has raised over a half a million dollars in the last two years.
