The Glenn Miller Orchestra is coming to Green Bay, Wisconsin! The intimate 1000 seat performance taking place at 2:00pm on April 25th is a fund raising effort to support the Steel Bridge Songfest. The performance is presented by the Wisconsin Trust for Historic Preservation, who are donating proceeds to Steel Bridge Songfest. Tickets are $25 and available at all TicketStar locations, TicketStarOnline.com or by calling 1-800-895-0071. Along with admission to the performance at the historic Meyer Theatre, you also receive a one-year membership with the Wisconsin Trust.

Since 1986, the mission of the Wisconsin Trust has been to do "all things necessary to educate and encourage the citizens of Wisconsin, present and future, to enjoy with pride their cultural heritage as is embodied in the built environment."

The World Famous, Glenn Miller Orchestra, is the most popular and sought after big band in the world today for both concert and swing dance engagements. With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world. Trombonist Larry O'Brien is the orchestra's present musical director.

World-renowned for their original swing sound, The Glenn Miller Orchestra received the first Gold Record ever issued for Chattanooga Choo-Choo, which remains the largest selling record of all time. This historic show will be hosted by WTHP Board Member and theater restoration specialist Mark Ernst, AIA, of Engberg Anderson. He will be joined by our special guest, Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Jim Draeger, who will provide comments prior to the performance. Copies of the recently published Encore for Wisconsin’s Grand Theaters by Brian Leahy Doyle, and other Wisconsin Historical Society Press books will be available for purchase in the lobby. This special matinee event will celebrate the preservation of Wisconsin’s own 1930s originals, the Green Bay Meyer Theatre and the Sturgeon Bay Steel Bridge. This program has received generous support from Billie Kress and Arketype, both of Green Bay.

The Steel Bridge Songfest (SBSF) is co-founded by Christie Weber and her brother, pat mAcdonald - former Timbuk3 rocker.
