November 27, 2011, Cerritos, CA – Gunjan Bagla, Managing Director of global business consultancy Amritt, Inc., was a featured speaker at the Product Development Management Association’s (PDMA) 35th Annual Global Product Innovation Management Conference, November 1 in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Bagla co-presented, “Developing a Global Practice for Innovation that Includes Internal and External Centers of Expertise,” with Ken McLellan, Business Connection Leader at The Clorox Company. Drawing on his years of experience and the successes of Amritt’s Global R&D Practice in helping Western companies enter the Asian market, Mr. Bagla’s presentation focused on how U.S. companies can benefit by leveraging product development partnerships in India. Mr. McLellan discussed on how these key external partnerships, in tandem with U.S.-based initiatives and collaborations, have provided new growth opportunities forClorox.
“The time is ripe for companies in the U.S., Canada and Europe to innovate on a global scale,” said Mr. Bagla. “Developing markets in India and China are growing at rates much higher than those in the developed world, and these regions have large pools of talented and trainable engineers and scientists. Companies that take innovative measures using both internal and external centers of expertise will reap the benefits.”
Author of Doing Business in 21st Century India, Gunjan Bagla is considered an authority on how companies can increase revenues and reduce costs by leveraging the economies of Asia. With 25 years of experience in global sourcing and marketing, he held senior corporate positions in global technology sales and marketing before founding Amritt, Inc. in 2004. Among his many professional activities and affiliations, Mr. Bagla created “Business in India,” an executive workshop at California Institute of Technology, to focus on the rapidly evolving business culture of India within the larger context of India’s culture and society.
Mr. Bagla is a board member of the South Asian Studies Association. He earned his M.B.A. with honors from Southern Illinois University and holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur campus, where he is the immediate past President and current board member of the PAN IIT Alumni sociation.
