“This is exciting news,' says Michael T LeCornec, the founder and Executive Director for the GlobalED family of online education companies, 'for it represents our first expansion since being the first online provider approved in New York State.” GlobalED began online prelicense insurance training in NY in 2007 and was able to secure a top rating for it first-time passing ratio its graduates taking their state licensing examination. Just over 80% of its graduates passed their state licensing examination on their first attempt for the examination period commencing June 1, 2007 through July, 31, 2009. “We took a big risk,' says LeCornec, 'by deviating from the norm of a cheap course pricing strategy that typically takes a candidate three to four attempts to pass their state licensing exam to investing heavily in high quality technological strategy that costs a little more but has dramatically better results.” During that same licensing cycle the statewide first time pass rate was around 50% according to the New York State Insurance Department. That gave GlobalED a significantly higher result than the combined New York State average.

“We needed to make some changes and modifications to our Personalized Learning Management System based upon our ongoing analysis of how our students were using our system to prepare for their licensing exam,” says the Executive Director. GlobalED results during the first 2 quarters were much lower than anticipated (73%) and after making their changes were much higher than expected (95%). GlobalED continues to work with students after they earn their Certificate of Completion up through passing their licensing exam. Students who properly implement the GlobalED SR2 study retention system have the highest passing rates being the the 90th percentile while those who choose to “wing-it” on their own find themselves at the 75th percentile. Michael LeCornec says, “We realistically expect to see our net first-time pass rate at the upper 80% range. Connecticut candidates taking our course are positioned to benefit greatly from the improvements made from our New York experience.” Early results tend to justify the high expectations but as Mr LeCornec states, “The early numbers are not yet statically valid to reliably predict final outcomes, but they are encouraging.”
