Technology Company, MMI has acquired premier Online Radio company - Global Radio 1.com

Global radio 1.com the US based, UK managed Online Radio station with significant following has been acquired by technology company Man Machine Interface and will include veteran broadcaster, Richard J Hannah as a board member and driving force behind the station’s future.
From just 5 hours programming from 3 presenters 3 years ago, Global radio 1 boast 25 presenters and shows two audio drama production partners, production support, outsourced technical support and a data centre infrastructure built and maintained out of the US.
“Technology is the Key’ said Programme Director, Richard J Hannah. “Online Radio must not simply ape the AM/FM and Digital TV stations, we need to utilize the very different medium we use.”. In depth analysis of Global radio 1 listenership revealed listeners grazed for about an hour at a time and usually around their favorite shows. Listeners preferred specialist shows: Country, Rockabilly, retro Chart shows were popular and personality lead shows worked very well with a lot interaction between presenters and audience via face book but little email traffic.
“ Our listeners have grown up in the ‘everything is free and on demand’. They want to listen to their shows when they hear them. That may not relate to any scheduled published” said Producer Rob Ericson
Global Radio 1 not only repeats much of its output; popular shows are available via ITunes, playable off the web site or downloadable to a PC or Mac. No Iphone applications are required to play the station on an Iphone just click on the picture of the Iphone and it is done.
There will be a shake up of the schedules. A ‘Working lunch’ show is being produced, as is a Job Club and Recruitment show for out of work professionals.
The mornings will be talk and easy listening shows; the afternoon will be a radio magazine at weekends but an afternoon music show during the week. The evening s will belong to dance with specialist shows during the early hours for the night owls.
Man Machine Interface will not only be investing in technology for Global radio 1 it will also provide technical consultancy to industry. The Company recently secured a contract with a government quango
