The same bitrate as can run on an Iphone. A domestic broadband service provided the distribution from a server based in the UK and a single page web site supported the site. The presenters answered the phones and worked from home, paid for their shows as a labour of love.

Of the original 5 DJs only two remain. Global Radio1.com fended off an attempt to buy it out from a chinese venture capitalist and instead became part of The Credible Group under innovative CEO Elliott Limb , COO Richard J Hannah and Shareholder/Director Victoria Hannah. Immediately all data and music was moved to a US based Data Centre and the station invested in capacity for 20,000 simultaneous connections to Global radio 1 programming at a bit rate of 128K. Technical Support was purchased from Southampton based Proradiostreaming.com. New offices have followed at Oxford, Newcastle Upon Tyne and London and a new web site. The station employs 20 DJs from the US, Brazil, India and the UK as well as has special audio drama productions prepared by the Wireless Theatre Company and the Bunbury Banter Theatre Company. There are some 56 weekly shows and podcasts and an estimated 45,000 individuals tune in worldwide across a 24 hour period. Furthermore, the radio station runs on Apple Iphone without the need of an additional application.

Presenters such as Adrian Mills and Mike Groth have joined the station - veteran BBC Broadcasters now turning their talents on a global audience.

Global Radio 1.com is two - a mere toddler in terms of years but now a mighty big baby in the online Radio Business.
