Product Placement for films involves bartered goods to be featured in film. Featured in the WSJ.com, the films title 'Harold & Kumar go to White Castle' is itself a product placement. Product placement for FedEx was a major part of Tom Hank's movie 'Cast Away".

In 6/09, Forbes reported that Director Micheal Bay saved $10M from the production cost of the movie 'Transformers' by partnering with GM and the US military to get free cars, helicopters, and battleships.

At least 1 state has a Film Production Assistance Program that provides loan guarantees to 30% or $1.5M, whichever is less, that are made by traditional lenders. However, 70% of the shooting days must be in that state and at least 50% of "below the line" expenses of the projects operating budget must be in that state.
