GOETTL AIR CONDITIONING INTRODUCES NEW TECHNOLOGY TO THE VALLEY TO REDUCE STAPH AND MRSA CONTAMINATION
Tempe-based air conditioning company one of the first to incorporate activeTek system that reduces up to 99.9% of surface germs, viruses and bacteria
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 15, 2010 --
Phoenix, AZ – February 15, 2010 – Goettl Air Conditioning, a leader in reliable, high quality, energy-efficient air conditioning and heating equipment, recently introduced the use and installation of state-of-the-art Certified Space Technology environmental equipment designed to reduce surface biological challenges in homes, offices, businesses and hospitals.
The equipment, created by activTek Environmental reduces up to 99.9% of surface germs, viruses, and bacteria, and may be a significant development in reducing surface contamination of Staph and MRSA which has also been a growing concern in schools and medical facilities. The equipment also works extremely well in reducing food and pet odors, cigarette smoke and musty odors.
“Most parents know that 80% of all germs, bacteria, and viruses are transmitted by touching surfaces that have been contaminated by someone else that is already sick,” said Mike Letts, VP, activTek Environmental. “This can happen very easily if a person goes to the doctor for a wellness checkup and sits next to a sick person in a waiting room or if a child plays with the same toy that a sick child has played with. The viruses or germs that are picked up can be brought into the home and cause others to become ill. Now, instead of spending all day cleaning, you can sit back and relax–it’s like having a maid cleaning your home, 24 hours a day, even while you sleep”
The technology has received the prestigious status of “Certified Space Technology” by the NASA affiliated Space Foundation and is considered a “Building/Going Green” product.
A key concern for most companies is loss of work time for employees due to illness. According to the National Business Research Institute roughly 69 million workers reported missing days due to illness last year, for a total of 407 million days of lost time at work. With this equipment directly addressing germs and other bacteria, there are hopes for reduction in lost man hours saving businesses considerable dollars.
Goettl General Manager, Allen Crick agrees, “When we look at introducing a new product to our lineup, we want to make sure not only that it gets our stamp of approval but also that there will be market demand. We have already received calls for the activeTek INDUCT 2000 to be installed in both homes and corporate offices and look forward to performing more installations soon.”
Dr. James Marsden, Kansas State University, one of the top researchers and experts in infectious control, coordininated the study for the technology used by activTek. Dr. Marsden’s study has been peer reviewed and published in the scientific Journal of Rapid Methods in Microbiology 15 (2007) 359-368. Dr. Jill Bieker, a researcher from the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration’s Sandia National Laboratories, assisted Dr. Marsden with the testing and led the research to prove the effectiveness of activTek Technology on Avian Influenza (H5N8).
