GoGirls Music Fest San Francisco event is at Cafe Du Nord on November 17 at 8 PM.
Proceeds to benefit Mary's House, a nonprofit residential facility for women who are pregnant and in crisis serving the SF Bay Area Community.
San Francisco, CA - GoGirlsMusicFest celebrates its 10th anniversary tour this year, and GoGirlsMusic.com founder Madalyn Sklar and her team have selected a new beneficiary of the event's proceeds - the nation's maternity homes.
The San Francisco Event will be held on November 17 at 8 pm at Cafe Du Nord (2170 MARKET STREET SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94114) and will benefit Mary's House, a local, a nonprofit residential facility for women age 18 and over who are pregnant and in crisis and choose to parent their child or adoption. The SF event will feature performances by area artists Monica Pasqual, Tiffany Petrossi, Deborah Crooks, Valerie Orth & Blue Rabbit. Donations will be accepted and an opportunity drawing will be held with items donated from a variety of local businesses and sponsors including City Share, Rockin’ Moms and local performing artists. Admission is $12 and the first 100 people get a free GoGirls Music Fest Compilation CD.
Sklar and her GoGirls Elite members are bringing the best of independent women's music today to cities across the country, while working to educate their fans on the maternity homes that offer assistance to women in need at the most critical times in their lives. This year's GoGirlsMusicFest will reach Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; Greenville, NC; Houston, TX; Long Beach, CA; New York, NY; San Diego, CA; Santa Clarita, CA; Santa Monica, CA; Venice, CA and Washington DC as well as San Francisco, CA.
"Everyone here at GoGirls is excited to be working to increase awareness of maternity homes throughout the country," says Sklar. "Maternity homes have played such a key role in the lives of so many people, yet there are fewer and fewer of them every year, and the ones that survive often have very long waiting lists. Leveraging the GoGirlsMusicFest to help spread the word about important issues and causes is something I'm proud that we're able to do. We're thrilled to reach out to these organizations, and work with them and their clients as we hold our events around the country."
National GoGirlsMusicFest Coordinator, Evonne Rivera adds, "Most of these homes are run independently, without the help of a national organization. It fits perfectly with our independent artists helping independent charities."
Madalyn Sklar, founder of GoGirlsMusic.com, created GoGirlsMusicFest, a series of annual showcase events across the United States. The festival promotes independent women in music while supporting various charities which have included MusiCares, Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls, American Liver Foundation, The Lynne Cohen Foundation for Ovarian Cancer Research, UNOS and more. Since 2000, well over 100 all volunteer run shows have taken place throughout the U.S. . The San Francisco event will sponsor St. Mary’s House serving the community in the Bay Area.

Located in San Pablo, California, Mary's House is a nonprofit residential facility for women age 18 and over who are pregnant and in crisis who choose to parent their child or adoption. A woman who is referred to Mary's House may be experiencing poverty, homelessness, family violence, a lack of prenatal care, or another situation that jeopardizes her well-being and the future of her child.
By providing a supportive family living atmosphere, Mary's House offers a safe haven while attending to the emotional, spiritual, educational, and occupational development of each resident. During pregnancy and for up to six months after her baby's birth, each resident is encouraged to work toward her educational and career goals while preparing to live independently.
"Our musical line-up is fantastic and we're all looking forward to putting on a great show to help this local charity," Deborah Crooks, SF performer and Coordinator.
