Going Away This Bank Holiday? Get Your Car Hire Early!

(Free-Press-Release.com) August 26, 2009 -- Recent studies showed that this year compared to last year car hire prices have shot through the roof in the UK and many holiday destinations abroad.

One of the main reasons for this is due to the expectation of less tourists in these resorts, this was not the case. But the problem did arise of less cars to rent means higher prices to pay.

Many tourists used to use comparison websites to find the best deals prior to travelling but recently many tourists have chanced it and tried to get cheaper car hire in the resorts or left it very late to book the cars on line.

Some reports have stated that holiday makers travelling to holiday rental accommodation have seen rises of up to 40%. This is incredible considering the current economical times.

If your looking to book a car whilst on holiday this bank holiday then make sure to book it as early as possible and avoid paying the higher prices. If you look at it from the eyes of the rental agent then the more cars that they have the cheaper they can rent them for to get rid of them early. Then as they get to the last few cars why should they keep the prices cheap? They will put the prices up to cover the cheaper cars rented earlier. This also goes for flight seats on many airlines, hence the special £5 offers you get for booking in advance for next March etc.

We have already had reports that in some popular holiday resorts there is a shortage of cars to rent. The best advice is to try to book a car from another location rather than the airport like down town, this may be a bit more of an inconvenience but you may find that prices and availability are better. Sometimes a short taxi ride may be the answer to your problems and also present you with less queues.

So, we have a bank holiday weekend coming and many of us are trying to book last minute deals to get away to the sun. As last minute tour operator deals are down considerably compared to last year, private holiday rentals have risen.
