Irene Santoro is preparing to embark on the construction of her green beach home now that her unique design is complete after months of precise planning and designing. The home will be reconstructed on the beach in Long Beach Island, New Jersey. As the owner of Forever Green Training & Sustainable Design, (members of the USGBC) Ms. Santoro is an Accredited Professional educated in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. She certainly has put her education and experience to great use when she designed her green beach home. Now with the assistance of registered architect, Craig W. Brealey, and the engineers of McGrann Associates, the beach home will begin construction in 2010.

Ms. Santoro’s goal is to have the home achieve a gold rating through LEED for Homes from the (USGBC)United States Green Building Association, as well as a certification from the NJ Energy Star Program. Ms. Santoro should have no problem meeting these requirements due to her three philosophies when designing this home. First, it has been designed to reduce the carbon footprint. Secondly, the design strategies will reduce energy and water usage. Her third philosophy was to design an Allergy Free TM home that will meet her family’s personal allergy needs, as well as provide superior indoor air quality throughout the home. The home will meet these certifications due to its unique design for high-energy performance. An example of some of the strategies include tankless hot water heaters, air tight cavities, a Xeriscaping landscaping design,paperstone counters,and all Verde Cucine Cabinetry TM. Verde Cucine TM is a green cabinet brand that Ms. Santoro’s company custom designs and owns. It is well built with all green materials, and is as chic as it is the most affordable green line of cabinetry available today. All of the homes’ interior products are made from recycled content or contain low emissions of VOC’s.
