A vibrating feeder is an instrument that uses vibration to 'feed' material to a process or machine. Vibratory feeders use both vibration and gravity to move material. Gravity is used to determine the direction, either down, or down and to a side, and then vibration is used to move the material. They are mainly used to transport a large number of smaller objects. It is also known as vibratory feeder. There are different types, sizes and categories of vibration feeders. Almost all manufacturing companies make use of one type of feeder or the other in their line of production: Pendulum feeder, Electromagnetic vibrating feeder, Chute feeder and so on.

The use of feeders is virtually inevitable in the following industries First of them is the Iron and Steel works Industry. Others are the Collieries Quarries Industries, Gas Works Industries, Mines Industries, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industries, Ceramics Industries, Rubber Industries and finally, the Clay and Glass Industries. They also protect the belt conveyors from being over used. This is because they transfer materials directly on to conveyors at suitably constant rate. The most common type of feeder is the Electric-operated one. This is because of the ease with which it can be operated and its level of efficiency. This type of feeder has been divided into seven categories according to their trough size and power consumption.

Since there are different types of feeders available today, finding the right model may be a little difficult. Your best chance is to see if you can find a feeder that has been designed for your vertical market. Unfortunately this sometimes means higher costs, as specialized feeder usually are more expensive than generic ones. You might also want to consider the speed at which the feeder moves the required materials to the desired point of production. This is important because the speed of the feeder affects the speed of the whole process of production. Choose a feeder that is capable to support the minimum speed required by your production line with some reserves left for peace of mind.

It is always advisable to test new equipment before you bring it online in your process. The best way to go about testing your feeding system is to try adding a small amount of the material that you are expecting to use. This control test will show any problems that the equipment has without risking your entire production line. Especially in manufacturing, you will find many industries that use vibrating feeders . They are robust parts of most manufacturing lines as they combine simple vibrations with the force of gravity to move materials with precision and accuracy.
