Golf Communities Tempt Buyers With More Than a Just Pretty Course

How one Florida golf community is tempting buyers with incentives.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Delray Beach, Florida, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 7, 2011 -- DELRAY BEACH, Florida—Pursuing an unconventional course to drive sales in the sluggish real estate market, The Hamlet Country Club in Delray Beach has instituted a “young buyers” (under 62) incentive for new golfers in their community. This includes a 33% discount on golf membership dues for 5 years. The normal initiation fee still applies.

With sellers nationwide throwing in bonuses to get people to buy homes in a falling market, it's only natural that the trend would extend to golf course realty. Many golf course communities have especially been affected by the downturn in the economy. Golf memberships are on a slight decline lead by a steady downturn in golf play and golf interest in recent years. Meanwhile, golf clubs are facing increasing costs to manage and maintain their courses.

According to Kevin Page, Membership Chairman at the Hamlet, “While most people think that golf course communities are only beneficial for retired persons, most homes are built multi-generational and appeal to young and old alike. Another feature that attracts prospective buyers to a golf community is the resort-style atmosphere. Some buyers prefer an upscale, country club environment that includes restaurant amenities for entertaining business partners and family members, a fitness center steps from their home, and golf availability seven days a week without tee times.”

In another effort to meet the challenges of membership growth and usage, The Hamlet Country Club recently established The Dining Club, which invites non-residents to enjoy the Dining room and events via Dining Club memberships. “Offering an appealing dining membership to non-residents is a creative solution that The Hamlet believes will be a prototype for small clubs in the future,” states Bill Redman, Hamlet Club President.
